Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their ground breaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes – and promise to revolutionise science forever. But then Marguerite’s father is murdered and the killer – her parent’s handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul – escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows – including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul’s guilt – as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is far more sinister than she expected.

This book was amazing! An alternate life at each turn, Marguerite follows Paul through the different lives she could have led instead of her one. Along with Theo, her parent’s other assistant, they go in search of Paul, determined to take down Henry Caine’s killer. We see an alternate London, another San Francisco, Russian Royalty and underwater settlements. Beautifully portrayed and an excellent read, this book is a page turner. I could not put it down once I had started it! It’s so well laid out and fab, I’m so glad that I’ve read it! And because we follow through with Marguerite’s perspective, the science-y parts (for us who are not so science inclined) are all clearly explained in layman’s terms, making it an easy read while keeping everything exciting.

Just read it. Just – read it. It is fab and you will not regret it.
